Play Store feature graphic size
One exact dimension, two accepted formats, no transparency, and it is required on every Google Play listing. The spec is short — the part worth reading is why a graphic that looks fine gets refused.

Exactly that — not a minimum, not a ratio. JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no alpha channel, and Google Play requires one on every store listing.
The spec
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Dimensions | 1024 × 500 pxExact — not a minimum |
| Format | JPEG or 24-bit PNG (no alpha) |
| Required | Yes, on every listing |

For comparison, the Play app icon in the same document is 512 × 512 px, 32-bit PNG with alpha, up to 1024 KB — the opposite transparency rule to this one. That inconsistency is where most rejected uploads come from; see app icon sizes.
Why a feature graphic gets refused
An alpha channel. 24-bit PNG means no transparency. Exporting “PNG” from a design tool usually gives you 32-bit with alpha, which is the wrong file even when the image looks identical.
Close-but-wrong dimensions. 1024 × 500 is exact. A 2048 × 1000 export at the same ratio is not a valid feature graphic.
Treating it as a billboard. This is advice rather than spec: assume it will be seen much smaller than 1024 px wide. Three or four words at a large weight survive that; a paragraph, a screenshot of your UI, or thin 14 px type does not. Keep anything that matters away from the outer edges.
What ExportKit exports
1024 × 500 PNG, and the editor is locked to that dimension — there is no way to export the
wrong size from it. You can pull your app icon into the graphic, set type, background, gradient and
device frames, and it lands in the zip under feature-graphic/.
It is free to use: 1080 × 1920 Play screenshots, the icon, the feature graphic, the full
.zip and three screenshot template sets, with no watermark and no cap on exports. The rest of
the template library is a one-time licence that is not on sale yet. You can start
without an account; signing in with Google is what keeps the work between visits.

Questions
What size is a Google Play feature graphic?
1024 × 500 pixels, as a JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no alpha channel. The dimension is exact, not a minimum.
Is a feature graphic required on Google Play?
Yes. Play Console Help lists it as a required asset for every store listing.
Can the feature graphic be transparent?
No. Play asks for JPEG or 24-bit PNG, which means no alpha channel. Flatten it onto a solid background before uploading.
Does the App Store need a feature graphic?
No. The feature graphic is a Google Play asset. The App Store has no equivalent — its listing is built from screenshots, an app preview video and the 1024 × 1024 icon.
Can I reuse a screenshot as the feature graphic?
You can upload one at 1024 × 500, but it reads badly: a phone screenshot squeezed into a 2:1 banner leaves most of the frame empty, and the text inside a screenshot is unreadable at the size this gets displayed. Design it as a banner.
