App Store screenshot sizes
Apple lists a dozen display categories, but almost all of them are optional and scale from a larger set. Two are not. Here is the full table from App Store Connect Help, with the required rows marked and the April 2027 change flagged.
Last verified: 17 October 2026
One iPhone screenshot at 1179 × 2556 or 1206 × 2622 (Dynamic Island, medium display) is required. If the app runs on iPad, one at 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732 (13″) is required too. Everything else in Apple's table is optional and falls back to a scaled larger size.
iPhone, by display category
Apple no longer labels these in inches — the categories are about the display hardware. Portrait and landscape are both listed; you only need the orientation your app supports.
| Display category | Portrait | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Dynamic Island (medium) | 1179 × 2556or 1206 × 2622 | Yes — at least one, for any iPhone app |
| Dynamic Island (large) | 1260 × 2736or 1290 × 2796, 1320 × 2868 | Optional — Face ID (large) is used instead |
| Face ID (large) | 1284 × 2778or 1242 × 2688 | Required if no Dynamic Island (large) set is provided |
| Face ID (medium) | 1170 × 2532or 1125 × 2436, 1080 × 2340 | Optional |
| iPhone Duo (outer) | 1398 × 2034 | Optional now — required from April 2027 |
| iPhone Duo (inner) | 2007 × 2853 | Optional now — required from April 2027 |
| Home Button (large) | 1242 × 2208 | Optional |
| Home Button (medium) | 750 × 1334 | Optional |
| Home Button (4″) | 640 × 1096or 640 × 1136 | Optional |
| Home Button (3.5″) | 640 × 920or 640 × 960 | Optional |
The April 2027 change worth knowing about now
The two iPhone Duo categories — 1398 × 2034 (outer) and 2007 × 2853 (inner) — are optional today, and Apple states they become required from April 2027 for apps built with the iOS 27.1 SDK or later. If you are designing a screenshot template now, leaving room for those two shapes is cheaper than redoing the set later.

What ExportKit does — and does not — for the App Store
Straight answer: switch the device to iPhone and ExportKit exports at 1290 × 2796, one of Apple's accepted sizes for iPhone with Dynamic Island (large display). What it doesn't export yet is the required category: 1179 × 2556 or 1206 × 2622 (Dynamic Island, medium). So you can make the large-display set in ExportKit, and you still need one medium-display screenshot from somewhere else before App Store Connect lets you submit. The Android canvas, 1080 × 1920, isn't on Apple's list at all.
The icon side is different: ExportKit exports a 1024 px PNG, which is the App Store icon size — see app icon sizes. iPad sizes aren't exported either, and this page will say so until they are.
Questions
What screenshot sizes does the App Store require in 2026?
At least one iPhone screenshot in the Dynamic Island (medium) category — 1179 × 2556 or 1206 × 2622 portrait. If the app runs on iPad, at least one 13-inch screenshot at 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732 is also required. Every other display category is optional.
Do I need a separate screenshot set for every iPhone size?
No. Most categories are optional and Apple scales a larger set down to fill them. The exception is Face ID (large), which is required if you do not provide a Dynamic Island (large) set.
How many screenshots can I upload per device size?
Up to 10 per device size, and at least one is required.
Can App Store screenshots have transparency?
No. Apple accepts .jpeg, .jpg and .png, and the images cannot include alpha channels or transparencies.
Can I upload a 1080 × 1920 screenshot to the App Store?
No — 1080 × 1920 is not one of Apple's accepted sizes. It is Google Play's recommended portrait size. The nearest accepted iPhone portrait sizes are 1080 × 2340 under Face ID (medium) and 1179 × 2556 under Dynamic Island (medium).
What are the iPhone Duo screenshot sizes?
1398 × 2034 portrait for the outer display and 2007 × 2853 portrait for the inner display. Both are optional today and become required from April 2027 for apps using the iOS 27.1 SDK or later.
